Broadway Revues are concerts filled with tunes from various musicals strung together with a theme. Each theme has a wide variety of musicals that fit it, which allows students the chance to explore many new musicals to broaden their knowledge on lesser known shows and showtunes (but still just as fun to sing!)

Every Revue rehearses for two weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30. At the first rehearsal, the students will learn a brief background on the theme and the significance of it in the world of musicals. Each student will then pick their solo song they wish to sing, as well as a duet or trio partner(s) and they will pick a song to sing together. All the students will also find out what the opening and closing numbers will be.

The second rehearsal, they will find out the show order and will spend the night learning the two group numbers. The following week, they are expected to have memorized their solo songs as we run through those and spend time working on the duos and trio numbers. When the students are not working on their songs, they will get to pick out the costumes they wish to wear for their numbers from our stock costumes.

The last rehearsal will be the dress rehearsal and then the students will be ready to dazzle the audience in two fully staged performances – one on Friday night and the second on a Saturday afternoon.

The quick rehearsal process is meant to help prepare these students for our mainstage musicals, and professional theatre alike! The students will also walk away with a better knowledge of Broadway and will have some new showtunes to add to their repertoire. Each revue will feature 10 to 15 songs and will have a runtime of approximately 60 minutes.

Possible songs:
Any songs from a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical:
Cinderella
South Pacific
The Sound of Music
Oklahoma
Carousel
Show Boat
The King and I
Flower Drum Song
Pipe Dream
State Fair
